On August 31, 2024, the IEEE St. Joseph’s College of Engineering Student Branch Chapter (SBC60101) and IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society SJCE SB (SBC60101A) hosted ECO VISION: Strive to Sustain. The event featured Shivam Shivam, Engineering Lead at Z5 and IEEE Computer Society 20 in 20’s Honoree, who delivered a compelling talk on “Sustainable Computing for a Greener Future.”
Speakers presentation focused on the integration of sustainability principles within the field of computing. He discussed innovative approaches to designing energy-efficient hardware and software, the importance of minimizing electronic waste, and strategies for reducing the carbon footprint of computing technologies. His insights emphasized the role of engineers in developing sustainable solutions and encouraged attendees to adopt practices that promote environmental stewardship in their professional work.
The virtual event, held on Google Meet from 02:30 PM to 03:30 PM IST, attracted 30 participants, reflecting a strong interest in the intersection of technology and environmental sustainability.
