“We, IEEE Spectrum of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, conducted a Spectrum session. The speaker,  Mr. S. Senthamizhselvan  spoke on “How Good is ChatGPT at Coding ” on 31st July , 2024. The speaker enlightened us with the idea that “ A recent study evaluated OpenAI’s ChatGPT in terms of coding ability. The results show that ChatGPT’s success rate in producing functional code varies widely—from as low as 0.66% to as high as 89%. Factors affecting its performance include task difficulty, programming language, and other considerations . While it can outperform humans in some cases, there are also security concerns with AI-generated code. Understanding these strengths and limitations is crucial for effective use of AI-based code generation.” The session was held between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Our target audience were 2nd , 3rd and final years . A total of 25 participants participated and had an amazing experience during the meet, thoroughly enjoying the entire session. The speaker was honoured with an E-memento.     Â
