INNOVATE, LEAD, SUCCEED: A GUIDE TO THE RICHARD E. MERWIN SCHOLARSHIP

IEEE VTS SJCE SB(VTO6 SBC60101N) , in collaboration with the IEEE St. Joseph’s College of Engineering student chapter, proudly presented a profoundly enlightening session titled “Innovate, Lead, Succeed: A Guide to the Richard E. Merwin Scholarship” on May 17, 2024, at 7:00 PM IST. The distinguished speaker for this event was Mr. Gaurav Pathak, IEEE CS REM Scholar – Fall 2022, IEEE CS 20 in Their 20s Honoree 2023, and IEEE CS SYP SOI Co-Lead 2024. Over 40 participants attended the session, where Mr. Pathak, a highly accomplished Network Engineer, adeptly navigated attendees through the intricacies of the Richard E. Merwin Scholarship, offering invaluable insights into the application process, eligibility criteria, and the profound impact it can have on one’s academic and professional journey. The session transcended mere information dissemination; it fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences, with participants actively engaging in a vibrant Q&A session, seeking guidance and clarification on various aspects of the scholarship. Their enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge underscored the significance of such platforms in empowering aspiring engineers to realize their full potential. As the session drew to a close, Mr. Pathak was felicitated with a memento in recognition of his contributions. The event left an indelible mark on all attendees, igniting within them a renewed sense of purpose and determination to excel in their engineering endeavors. In recognition of their active participation and unwavering commitment to personal and professional development, certificates of participation will be graciously awarded to all attendees. This session stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the engineering community, and we eagerly anticipate the transformative impact it will have on the future leaders of our field.

Mani Sha N is a Pre-final year student currently pursuing an Undergraduate in the domain of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai. He is currently volunteering as Chairperson of IEEE SJCE SB மாணவர் மன்றம் in St. Joseph’s College of Engineering Student Branch Chapter. He is also volunteering as a Web Designer in IEEE Madras Section under Section Student Coordination Team 2021. He has coordinated many Student Branch events Pels Jamboree, Pelzine- A Student Magazine, Sayonara, Conocithon, etc, and Section events MAS E TECH, MASCON, Know Your IEEE series, UPSKILl, etc. He completed his internship in Embedded Systems – Microcontrollers and Peripherals at Emcog Solutions at Mogappair, Chennai. He completed three mini projects in Embedded Systems and completed a hardware project in Robotics as Obstacle Avoider. He is currently doing his intern in Devtown as a Full Stack Web Developer. He is an enthusiast and a time-oriented person.
