On 6th December 2024, the IEEE St. Joseph’s College of Engineering Student Branch Chapter (SBC60101) organized an L&T Smart World Communication Visit to strengthen academic and industrial collaboration. The event began by appreciating the efforts of volunteers who significantly contributed to the success of the National Technology Day Webinar organised by the IEEE IAS Madras Section in collaboration with L&T Smart World Communication, showcasing impactful advancements in technology and fostering discussions on emerging trends. The acknowledgment of volunteers’ efforts served as a motivating factor, inspiring them to take pride in their contributions and continue their engagement in IEEE activities.
The industrial visit brought together faculty members and students with experts from L&T Smart World Communication to discuss opportunities for mutual growth and learning.
The resource persons included Mr. R. Srinivasan, EVP & Head; Mr. G. Srimanikandan, Senior Program Manager; Mr. Bala Subramani, Strategic Sourcing Manager; Mr. Sivaraman Dhanaraj, Lead (Supply Chain, Safe City & Non-IT Infra); and Ms. Gajalakshmi Ramalingam, Human Resources Manager.
Outcome
The event facilitated discussions on internship opportunities for students with L&T and provided valuable practical exposure through the industrial visit. It also initiated plans for hosting a collaborative hackathon with L&T, fostering innovation and technical skill development. Additionally, the event laid the groundwork for organizing a Distinguished Lecture Program under IEEE IAS MAS, further strengthening the academic-industry relationship. By recognizing the efforts of volunteers and the significance of major events like Winona, the initiative emphasized the collaborative spirit of IEEE and its commitment to driving innovation and professional growth
