IEEE St. Joseph’s College of Engineering Student Branch Chapter in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, organized a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) visit to Varam Old Age Home in Mahabalipuram on August 7, 2024. Final-year students from section A, Nearly 60 participants, took part in this community service initiative.
During the visit, students assisted with daily tasks, engaged with the elderly residents, and provided delicious food to enhance their well-being. This effort fostered a supportive and compassionate environment and aimed to boost the residents’ spirits. The experience was designed to enhance students’ empathy and sense of social responsibility, offering a meaningful complement to their academic education.
OUTCOME:
The visit effectively enhanced students’ empathy and social responsibility by allowing them to assist with daily tasks and provide meals to the elderly. This experience complemented their academic learning with practical insights into community service.
