IEEE Spectrum, is the world’s largest professional organisation devoted to engineering and the applied sciences. It contains peer-reviewed feature articles pertaining to technology and science trends affecting business and society. This spectrum was conducted to enlighten the young minds and some skilled knowledge out of it. The speaker Ms. V. Sanmitha spoke on “Robots Could be the Key to Empowering People with Disabilities”. The speaker enlightened us with the idea that “robots have the potential to empower people with disabilities and provide them with much-needed independence. The article highlights the story of Henry Evans, who became a nonspeaking person with quadriplegia after suffering a stroke-like attack caused by a birth defect. Evans collaborated with roboticists on a project called Robots for Humanity, which aimed to find ways of extending independence for people with disabilities and helping them live better and more fulfilling lives. The article also mentions the assistive mobile manipulators (AMMs) that have the potential to serve as surrogates and helpers for people with disabilities, giving them the freedom to perform tasks such as scratching an itch, picking up a cup, or socialising with their families .This Robot Could Be the Key to Empowering People With Disabilities.” The participants had an amazing experience in the meet and enjoyed the entire session.
