IEEE – IAS – 05/07/2019 to 07/07/2019
The Second Year Students from the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering were taken for an Industrial Visit to the Ennore Power Station on the 5th 7th of August 2019. They started by 8:00A.M in the morning headed to the station. Reaching there by 9:30, the students were taken to the station and one of the engineers working at the station was our instructor and Guide. They were taught about the inception of the station and also how it got developed into one of the major power sources of India today. Ennore Thermal Power Station was constructed to serve the purpose of energy generation in the year 1970. It is one of the four major thermal power plants. Presently it has an installed capacity of 450 MW. The necessary coal arrives through ship .The construction of the 1,000 MW plants (1,300,000 hp) in the premise began in the year 2007. The Station presently consists of two 60-MW and three 110-MW units. A 500-MW coal-based unit was proposed, and its development started in the month of November 2007. The total cost of the venture was 270. The plant was shut down on 31.03.2017 and will be replaced. Then they were explained about the criteria of getting a job at the NLC India Limited. Then they left the station by 3:15. It was a great exposure for the students to visit one of the major power plants of the country.
